Seagulls Win Thriller, 5-4
The San Francisco Seagulls picked up a win at Mission Field, topping the Chicago Hawks, 5-4. On the mound for San Francisco was right-hander Pete Ragsdale. He played a principal role in the triumph. San Francisco goes to 28-19. The win puts them 4 games up in their division.

Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, two-time All-Star Bobby Tapia had a chance to be the hero. Chicago pitcher Mark Evert had other ideas. But with one out, Tapia grounded out, driving in 1 run. The Seagulls had themselves a dramatic win.

"Pete gave us everything he had," said San Francisco manager Al Borie.
