Seattle Wins, 5-4, Over Northmen
|
The Seattle Emeralds defeated the Twin Cities Northmen, 5-4, in 10 innings in American Baseball League action at Twin Cities Stadium. Seattle pitcher Pat Burkholder had a standout performance. Phil Moore came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 5-2. Fred Wild collected save number 2.
Mike Green went 1 for 4 with a walk. He scored 2 runs for Seattle. The 25-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the tenth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Paul Whitaker. It was his 10th walk of the season.
"Pat kept his poise and got the job done," said Seattle manager Mark Velez. "He was outstanding."
The Emeralds sit in 4th place in the American Baseball League Western Division with a record of 25-23.
