Despite a great performance by St. Louis third baseman Fernando Martinez, the Cleveland Bobcats defeated the Explorers by the score of 7-6 at Lakefront Stadium. Martinez was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2. Cleveland occupies 5th place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division at 23-26.

Had Kevin Musumeci not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Musumeci hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Bobcats.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Cleveland manager Daniel Mays.
