The San Diego Captains beat the Milwaukee Dairymen, 8-3, at Milwaukee Municipal Stadium. San Diego left fielder Randy Barnes had an outstanding performance. He was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. San Diego pitcher Dave Gilson earned the win, hiking his record to 6-1. Randy Adams suffered the loss. The Captains have an impressive 31-17 record.

San Diego used a timely hit from Troy Stallings to get the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Captains ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"I like our moxie," said Captains manager Joe Mack.
