Brooklyn Edges Bulls, 6-5, Cooper Clutch
|
The Brooklyn Bluebirds beat the Kansas City Bulls, 6-5, at Flatbush Park. Jackie Cooper, who is tied for 8th in the NBL in runs scored with 33, starred for Brooklyn. He was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Dick Conway, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 5 runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. His record now stands at 7-1. Bob Hill earned the save, his 11th.
Cooper contributed in the bottom of the third. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was one at-bat among others that helped Brooklyn get the win.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Cooper, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
The first-place Bluebirds have won 4 straight games.
