New York and Toronto took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.

The New York Empires powered past the Toronto Hurons, 9-3, at Dominion Field. Rick Lintner was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once, to lead the charge. Nate Frampton got the win, improving to 3-5. He held the Hurons to 3 runs on 5 hits over 7.1 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 2.

New York right fielder Al Castro delivered a 2-run home run in the top of the second. Overall, he went 3 for 6, picking up 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and knocked in 2.

"There's a lot of passion in our clubhouse," said Lintner. "When we put it together we're a great ball club."

The victory gives New York a record of 28-21.
