Bulls Take Tight Tangle
The Kansas City Bulls spoiled a good performance by Los Angeles catcher Andy Covarrubio, bumping off Los Angeles, 12-11, at Blockbuster Stadium. Covarrubio went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Reliever Pat Thornton picked up the win. His record improves to 4-0. Cardell Franklin, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1969 draft, took the loss. The loss makes Los Angeles 26-23.

Kansas City used the clutch hitting of Mario Alva to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Bulls the lead, 12-11. For the game, Alva had 2 singles and 2 doubles in 5 at-bats.

"We came out aggressive," said Bulls manager DD Martin. "We came out swinging the bats."
