Knickerbockers Down Quakers, 4-1

The New York Knickerbockers knocked off the Philadelphia Quakers, 4-1, in National Baseball League action at Knickerbocker Stadium. New York pitcher and San Juan, Puerto Rico, native Danny Abril had an outstanding performance. The save went to Brian Long, his 6th this season. New York sits in third place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division at 30-21.
The Knickerbockers got a big at-bat from catcher Andy Covarrubio. For the game, Covarrubio went 1 for 2 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave New York a 2-0 lead.
New York manager William Bowen called it "a darn good win."
