Riding the 2-hit performance of the slugging right fielder Steve Garcia, the Twin Cities Northmen stopped the Detroit Wolverines, 5-2. Jeff Jordan got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Wolverines to 2 runs on 4 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 4. Willie Purter nailed down his 1st save.

The game turned with two out in the top of the sixth when Garcia, who finished 4th in the ABL in home runs with 29 last year, hit a run-scoring single. It propelled the Northmen into the lead, 3-2.

"It's a long season," said Garcia. "We'll keep working to improve."

The win leaves Twin Cities with a record of 1-4.
