The home crowd had a good time watching the Montreal Habitants and New York Empires get after it.

The New York Empires topped the Montreal Habitants, 8-2, in American Baseball League action at Queens Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of New York pitcher Jon Pierce. The Empires, now 4-1, have stormed out of the gates.

Early in the game, right fielder Paul Brower had a 2-run double for New York. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Empires on top, 2-0.

"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said New York skipper Jose Placeholder.
