Hawks Make Pobladores 6-3 Losers
|
Chicago and Los Angeles duked it out and the Hawks came out victorious.
The Chicago Hawks defeated the Los Angeles Pobladores, 6-3, at San Vicente Park. Chicago center fielder Paul Backer had a superb performance. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Bill Hill got the win, improving to 2-5. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 9 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 1.
Chicago took a 5-1 lead on Backer's 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Donnie Ball in the top of the sixth, propelled Chicago to the win.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Backer said.
The win gives the Hawks a record of 15-36.
