Knickerbockers Thwart Quakers, 3-1
|
The New York Knickerbockers got a magnificent performance from pitcher Jack Forbes, who muffled the Philadelphia offense en route to a tight, 3-1 Knickerbockers win at Quakers Stadium. Jose Espinoza got the save, the 7th for him this season. The National Baseball League Eastern Division-leading Knickerbockers are 30-20.
Bob Underwood, who is on pace for 123 RBI this season, had a direct impact on the outcome. Underwood contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put New York up, 3-0.
"Thought I threw pretty well and overall I felt good," said Forbes.
