Fans watched the Chicago Traders and the St. Louis Explorers fight to the finish.
The Chicago Traders picked up a win at Corps of Discovery Stadium, dropping the St. Louis Explorers, 4-3. Bobby Peters, who finished 2nd in the NBL in strikeouts with 207 in 1969, was the difference-maker. Peters, now 7-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs.
Ed White, who is a two-time All-Star, had a direct impact on the outcome. White contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Chicago up, 3-2.
After the game, Chicago manager Larry Link applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
This loss makes it 6 in a row for St. Louis.
