Down to Defeat Goes Baltimore, 7-4
|
Queens Field was the site for American Baseball League action featuring the Baltimore Lords and New York Empires.
The New York Empires picked up a win at Queens Field, dropping the Baltimore Lords, 7-4. Jon Pierce, who is tied for 10th in the ABL with a 6.5 K/9 rate, was the difference-maker. Tom Duncan, now 4-3, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0.
New York took a 5-4 lead on Chuck Estrada's 1st triple of the season. The bases-clearing triple, which Estrada hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Baltimore pitcher Gary Moore visibly frustrated.
"When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said Estrada.
New York has 3 straight wins, Baltimore 3 straight losses.
