The St. Louis Explorers got a magnificent performance from pitcher Bob Trout, who muffled the Kansas City offense en route to a tight, 3-1 Explorers win at Independence Field. In 6 innings, Trout surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Alex Alonso collected save number 3.
There was more than one reason the Explorers beat the Bulls, but Trout's big at-bat in the top of the second was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Trout said.
The win gives St. Louis a record of 3-3.
