St. Louis Defeated By Dairymen, 5-2
|
Milwaukee beat St. Louis on the strength of starting pitcher Tom Mitchell's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-2. Mitchell, now 1-6, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. With the win, Milwaukee upped its record to 29-22.
Milwaukee took a 5-2 lead on Tyree Davis's 5th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which Davis hit in the bottom of the seventh, left St. Louis pitcher Stan Heart visibly frustrated.
Milwaukee manager Brandon Dudley was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
