Washington beat New York at Knickerbocker Stadium, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to third baseman Jerry Duersch. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Bob Viola got credit for the win, improving to 4-2. He allowed 5 runs on 6 hits in 6 innings. The Eagles sport a record of 18-35.

Washington used a well-timed hit by Joe Ballard to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Eagles ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Ballard told the Washington Citizen.
