Eagles Topple Knickerbockers, 8-1, as Soroka Shines
The Washington Eagles beat the New York Knickerbockers, 8-1, at Knickerbocker Stadium. Washington shortstop Phil Soroka collected 2 singles and 1 double with 4 runs batted in. The 4th-place Eagles lifted their record to 26-26.

Washington used a well-timed hit by Jeff Lawler to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Eagles ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"We didn't help ourselves, it's as simple as that," said losing manager Timothy Widholm.
