The Boston Terriers spoiled a good performance by Atlanta second baseman Roberto Palacios, bumping off Atlanta, 5-4, at Atlantic Avenue Grounds. Palacios was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs. Bruce Shurtleff, the winner, is now 9-0. He struck out 4 and walked 1 over 7 innings, while allowing 4 runs on 11 hits. Picking up his 3rd save was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Bill Falcon.

Ralph King drew 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI for Boston. The 11-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Steve Papa. It was his 21st walk of the season.

"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said King. "It sure beats the alternative."

The 5th-place Terriers are 26-25.
