Traders Pick Up 2-1 Win Against Los Angeles
Union Field featured a tense pitchers' duel.

Chicago beat Los Angeles on the strength of starting pitcher Larry Cox's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 2-1. The second-place Traders have won 5 straight games.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Traders had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when catcher Ed White hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Basil Anderson and made the score 2-1, Traders. White was 1 for 2 with 2 walks.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," White said after the game.
