Explorers Capture Close Win
The Milwaukee Dairymen could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Dan Valenti into a win. Instead, the St. Louis Explorers prevailed, 4-3. Valenti threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Rick Morton got the save, the 1st for him this season. The Explorers improved their record to 24-30 by beating Milwaukee.

St. Louis took a 4-2 lead on Gary Parker's 4th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Parker hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Milwaukee pitcher Archie Sereni visibly frustrated.

"Bottom line," said Milwaukee skipper Brandon Dudley, "we didn't play well enough to win."
