Big Day for Cowell in 5-1 Wolverines Win
|
The Detroit Wolverines beat the Baltimore Lords, 5-1, at Seton Hill Stadium. The win was due in part to first baseman Randy Cowell, who was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Larry Black, the winner, improved to 4-4. He held the Lords to 1 run on 5 hits over 9 innings, while striking out 0 and walking 1. Detroit is 5th in the American Baseball League Eastern Division with a record of 23-29.
Early in the game, Cowell had a solo home run for Detroit. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Wolverines on top, 1-0.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Cowell told the Detroit Daily.
