Bobcats Rally Late to Clip Pittsburgh
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Cleveland Bobcats and the Pittsburgh Industrials, Roger Scherf, who leads the NBL in quality starts with 11, was the difference-maker. The Cleveland right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Tim Fried snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit over 2 innings. He's now 2-3 on the season. The 5th-place Bobcats have won 4 straight.
Cleveland took a 3-2 lead on Jim McCusker's 12th double of the season. The 2-run double, which McCusker hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Pittsburgh pitcher Bob Cole visibly frustrated.
"We take it day by day here," said McCusker, "and today was a good one for us."
