Knickerbockers Win, Lamons goes 3-for-4
|
Dwayne Lamons batted in 3 runs to lead New York to a win over Washington. The final score was 6-1. Lamons chipped in 2 singles and 1 home run. Dave Torre picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 6-3. At 32-21, New York is in first place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.
Lamons had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-1 fastball from Mark Campbell, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the Knickerbockers a 4-1 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Lamons.
Said losing manager Brandon Tucker: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
