New York starter Andy Humphrey clamped down on the Boston offense, while his team sailed to victory, 12-2. New York has won 3 straight, while Boston has lost 3 in a row.

New York used a well-timed hit by Paul Brower to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Empires ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"It was a tough day, no getting around it," said losing manager David Molina.
