Bobcats Win Squeaker, 3-2, Over Eagles
|
Starting pitcher Myron Baird gave the Cleveland Bobcats a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Washington Eagles, 3-2, at Lakefront Stadium. Bill Smith closed the game out for Cleveland, earning his 6th save. Today's win puts Cleveland at 34-20, while Washington falls to 21-32.
Bill Harper, who is tied for 8th in the NBL in triples with 3, took Washington hurler Richie Kingery deep in the bottom of the eighth. His solo home run put the Bobcats on top, 3-2. In all, Harper had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"If you chase it, you need to get it," said Cleveland skipper Daniel Mays.
