Quakers Stumble, Lose to Bobcats
|
The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Cleveland fans at Lakefront Stadium.
The Cleveland Bobcats topped the Philadelphia Quakers, 8-0, in National Baseball League action at Lakefront Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Cleveland pitcher and Jenison, Michigan, native Roger Scherf. Scherf, now 2-0, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 4, and allowing no runs.
In the bottom of the second, Scherf had one of his most important at-bats: a 2-run single off Juan Ramirez that staked the Bobcats to a 2-0 lead.
Cleveland manager Daniel Mays commended his team for "putting the pedal to the metal."
The win takes Cleveland to 4-2.
