Pittsburgh Hands Denver 6-3 Defeat
|
The Pittsburgh Industrials topped the Denver Burros, 6-3, with youngster Chip Berry playing a key role. Berry was 2-2 with a triple and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Industrials in the win. Jeff Munoz got the win, improving to 3-1. He held the Burros to 2 runs on 3 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 6. The second-place Industrials improved to 32-22.
Berry had a game-changing triple in the top of the sixth. On a 1-2 fastball from Willie Purter, he banged a bases-clearing triple to left-center, giving the Industrials a 5-2 lead. It was the 3rd triple of the year for Berry.
Berry told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
