Chicago Defeated By Pobladores, 4-2
|
Los Angeles pitcher Dan Turner had a large part in his team beating the Chicago Hawks, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The win went to Leon Fairley in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Johnny Russell took the loss. Los Angeles, now 24-30, holds down 5th place in the American Baseball League Western Division.
Los Angeles first baseman Chuck Gunter contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, he hit a fastball to left-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 47th hit of the season and put the Pobladores ahead, 4-2.
"My job is to go out and execute," said Turner.
