Eagles Tagged with 5-4 Loss
|
In a tight contest at Knickerbocker Stadium, the New York Knickerbockers edged the Washington Eagles by the score of 5-4. New York left fielder Bob Underwood, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. Ollie Hundley picked up the win, lifting his record to 6-1 on the season. He struck out 3 and walked 2 in 7 innings, while yielding 4 runs. The save went to Brian Long, number 7 for him.
Catcher Charlie Fee made an impact for New York, when he swatted a 3-run home run off Don McCoy in the bottom of the third. For the contest, Fee went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Fee told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
The win puts New York at 32-23 this season.
