Knickerbockers Deal Industrials 5-3 Loss
|
The New York Knickerbockers knocked off the Pittsburgh Industrials, 5-3, in National Baseball League action at Allegheny Field. New York pitcher and Hillsborough, North Carolina, native Ollie Hundley had an outstanding performance. Hundley yielded 2 runs over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 8. His record improves to 2-0. The Knickerbockers, now 6-0, have hit the ground running this season.
New York catcher Ed Bianculli contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the eighth. With two down, he hit a cutter to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 1st hit of the season and put the Knickerbockers ahead, 5-0.
"That was a really good outing by Ollie," said New York manager William Bowen.
