Victory Pushes Emeralds Record to 31-24
|
Denny Goldberg pitched a gem to lead Seattle to victory over the Twin Cities Northmen, 5-0. Goldberg yielded no runs over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 7, and struck out 2. His record improves to 2-7. The 4th-place Emeralds have won 4 in a row.
There was more than one reason the Emeralds beat the Northmen, but Goldberg's big at-bat in the bottom of the fourth was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
"Denny's as tough as he is talented," said Seattle manager Mark Velez.
