Denver Upended by Milwaukee, 3-2
|
The Milwaukee Dairymen did just enough to sneak past the Denver Burros, 3-2, at Milwaukee Municipal Stadium. Milwaukee pitcher Andy Campbell, in particular, had a standout performance. In 7 innings, Campbell surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Archie Sereni got the save, the 9th for him this season.
With Milwaukee trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Campbell hit a curveball from Marty Arnold for a bases-clearing double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Dairymen ahead, 3-1.
"Andy is a gamer," said Milwaukee manager Brandon Dudley.
The win puts the Dairymen at 23-33, while the Burros drop to 37-20.
