William Matz, who is tied for 4th in the ABL in wins with 7, imposed his will on the Wranglers from the get-go. Relying mainly on his cutter, the left-hander spearheaded the 5-0 Detroit triumph. Detroit is third in the American Baseball League Eastern Division with a record of 29-26.

In his 111-pitch effort, Matz allowed no runs on 5 hits over 8.1 innings. He walked 3 and struck out 5.
