Bobcats Continue Hot Streak with Extra-Inning Win
|
No one was more impactful than Benito Olivas in an extra-inning, 5-3 Cleveland win over St. Louis. Olivas, who is tied for 5th in the NBL in hits with 66, went 5 for 5 with a home run and 4 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Bill Smith, 2-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Cleveland has now won 5 games in a row.
Bill Harper drove in one run for Cleveland. With no one out and the game tied in the top of the tenth inning, Harper, who is tied for 4th in the NBL in bases on balls with 34, had a clutch at-bat. Facing St. Louis hurler Bernie Tate, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Bobcats a 4-3 lead.
"We haven't been playing to the level we want to play," said St. Louis manager Ray Fleetwood.
