Behind a solid performance from center fielder Jorge Luna, the Toronto Hurons defeated the New York Empires, 5-4. Luna went 1-1 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Hurons. Toronto reliever Larry Haddock got the win, raising his record to 5-1. Tom Duncan was tagged with the loss. The Hurons now own a record of 26-32.

Luna had a timely hit for Toronto in the bottom of the eighth. With Toronto trailing 4-3, he turned a full count fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 14th home run of the season, making it 5-4, Toronto.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Toronto manager Jim Burns.
