|
The exploits of shortstop Buddy Shingleton, who finished 5th in the NBL in wins above replacement with 7.5 in 1966, helped the Twin Cities Northmen defeat the San Francisco Seagulls, 6-2. Shingleton went 4-4 with 4 singles. The winning pitcher was Bob Freeland. He tossed 110 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. The win lifted the Twin Cities record to 31-26.
In the bottom of the fifth, with the game tied, San Francisco allowed the Northmen to go up, 3-1, on a San Francisco error.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Northmen manager Jason Gudim.
