New York Empires starter Larry Stanford hurled his team past the Atlanta Generals, 4-2. The Empires improved their record to 28-30 by beating Atlanta.

The Empires got a gift in the top of the ninth inning, when they were leading 3-2. With two out and the bases loaded, Dave Helms reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run. It made the score 4-2, New York.

"Larry had good arm action, good stuff," said New York manager Jason Jung.
