Somers Delivers Walk-Off Win for Wranglers
The Dallas Wranglers and Detroit Wolverines rewarded fans hoping for a nail-biter.

The Dallas Wranglers cut down the Detroit Wolverines by the score of 5-4 in 11 innings. Much of the credit went to right fielder Mike Shreve. Shreve went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2 for the Wranglers. Frank Dunn, who led the ABL in saves with 26 in 1971, picked up the win in relief. Tim McGovern took the loss for Detroit.

The Wranglers got a clutch hit from first baseman Ron Somers. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Wranglers.

"These kind of wins can be so good for a club's psyche," Dallas manager William Albrecht said.

The second-place Wranglers are 29-28.
