Boston got a decent performance from pitcher Bruce Shurtleff, but it wasn't enough to beat the Montreal Habitants. Montreal won the Atlantic Avenue Grounds contest, 6-3. Shurtleff threw 8.0 innings allowing 6 runs for the losing team. Oscar Rodela picked up the win, improving his season record to 5-2. He struck out 2 in 6.2 innings. The 5th-place Habitants now sit at 30-28.

Daniel Chavez went 1-4 for Montreal. With one out and the game tied in the top of the sixth inning, Chavez, who led the ABL in stolen bases with 50 in 1972, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Boston hurler Bruce Shurtleff, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Habitants a 4-3 lead.

Montreal manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon called it "a pretty good win."
