Losing Trend Continues for Houston
Atlanta beat Houston on the strength of starting pitcher Gary Ovitt's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. The save was credited to Joe Johnson, his 1st. By defeating Houston, the 6th-place Generals improved to 21-36.

Jerry Martin had a big run-scoring triple for the Generals in the top of the sixth inning. With Atlanta leading 3-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Angel Colon and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Generals ahead, 4-1.

"Gary -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Generals manager Philipe Yazzie. "He was the key to us winning."
