The New York Empires topped the Boston Terriers, 8-4, in American Baseball League action at Atlantic Avenue Grounds. The standout performance belonged to New York pitcher and Farmington Hills, Michigan, native Andy Humphrey. New York goes to 34-26, Boston to 28-30.

With New York leading 4-2 in the top of the fifth, Humphrey hit a sinker from Mel Hartman for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Empires ahead, 7-2.

"Andy pitched his heart out," said New York manager Dan Whiting.
