The Los Angeles Blockbusters went down to defeat to Jack DeWitt and his San Diego teammates. The final score was 3-1, in favor of the Captains. Dave Gilson picked up the save for San Diego, his 2nd of the year. The win elevated the Captains to 40-22.
Had Ernie Wilkins not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Wilkins hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Captains.
"My gosh almighty, Jack was tremendous," said San Diego manager Joe Mack.
