Down to Defeat Goes New York, 4-2
|
Don Achber had a strong outing for the Baltimore Lords against the New York Empires at Seton Hill Stadium. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 4-2 win. New York falls to 1-5.
Bob Carter had a big 2-run double for the Lords in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Baltimore leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from Larry Stanford and swatted a double to center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Lords ahead, 4-1.
Baltimore manager Steve Read called it "a darn good win."
