The Houston Drillers beat the Atlanta Generals, 7-5, at Sam Houston Field. Lowell Bickle, in particular, was impressive. He went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Houston reliever Ed Myatt picked up the win, raising his record to 3-3. Joe Johnson was tagged with the loss. Houston now sits at 26-33, while Atlanta falls to 21-37.

Houston took a 6-5 lead on Charlie Hall's 16th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Hall hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Atlanta pitcher Jose Pineda visibly frustrated.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Hall.
