Empires Defeat Terriers, 4-2
|
Starting pitcher Jon Pierce was a major factor in the 4-2 New York Empires triumph over the Boston Terriers. The win gives New York a season record of 34-27.
New York got a knockout punch from Mark Goen. The pinch hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
Goen told a New York Daily News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
