Gunter drives in 5 runs, Leads Pobladores to Win
|
At Mission Field, the San Francisco Seagulls and Los Angeles Pobladores were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Los Angeles first baseman Chuck Gunter had a 5-RBI performance, which helped his team down the San Francisco Seagulls, 5-0. Jim Arndt got the win, improving to 2-4. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and no runs, while striking out 3 and walking 1.
In the top of the fifth, with the game still scoreless, Gunter hit a 2-run single to put his team in the lead.
Said losing manager Al Borie: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
The Pobladores sport a record of 23-37.
