Blockbusters Capture Close Win
The Los Angeles Blockbusters and San Diego Captains put on quite a show.

No one was more impactful than Jim Brookins in the 7-6 Los Angeles win over San Diego. Brookins, who finished 2nd in the NBL in extra base hits with 74 in 1973, was 2-5 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win was credited to three-time All-Star Bill Kaiser in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Brian Meade took the loss. Picking up his 1st save was former first round draft pick Billy Duprey.

Brookins broke a deadlock in the top of the 11th inning, when he drew a walk, driving in 1 run, putting Los Angeles up, 6-5.

"Our guys refused to lose," said Brookins.

San Diego is now 2-5.
