The Denver Burros extended their winning streak.

Denver first baseman Bob Messinger helped his team beat the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 9-6. Messinger, who finished 2nd in the NBL in extra base hits with 76 in 1966, went 1 for 2 for the Burros. Carl Taylor earned the win to go to 2-0. He allowed 6 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts in 6 innings of work. Albert Green earned the save for Denver, his 1st of the year.

Messinger contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Denver in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 6-5, Messinger took a sinker from Ron LePiane and stroked the double to left. His 2nd double of the season allowed the Burros to leap in front, 7-6.

In postgame comments to the Denver Gazette, Messinger said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

Denver goes to 6-1 with the win.
