Cleveland Upended, 4-3, by Cincinnati
|
The Cincinnati Packers picked up a win at Roman Arena, knocking off the Cleveland Bobcats, 4-3. Starting pitcher John Stoddard was a big reason why. In 7 innings, Stoddard surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Chris Montgomery locked down his 1st save.
The Packers got a big at-bat from first baseman Stan Timmons. For the game, Timmons went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Cincinnati a 3-1 lead.
After the game, Cincinnati manager Martin Abresch applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
The victory puts Cincinnati at 25-36.
