Montreal Defeated by San Francisco, 2-1

San Francisco got a strong outing from Tim Stambaugh as the Seagulls defeated the Montreal Habitants, 2-1, at LaSalle Stadium. The winning pitcher was Stambaugh, now 9-2. He tossed 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 6. Earning his 3rd save for San Francisco was Paul Wiley.
San Francisco used a clutch at-bat from Jose Sosa to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Seagulls ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said San Francisco manager Al Borie.
San Francisco is now 40-22, 4½ games up in the American Baseball League Western Division.
