Quakers Win at Cleveland, 5-2
|
The Philadelphia Quakers knocked off the Cleveland Bobcats, 5-2, in National Baseball League action at Lakefront Stadium. Philadelphia pitcher and Odessa, Missouri, native Phil Moore had an outstanding performance. Moore, now 1-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 0, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The loss makes Cleveland 2-5.
With no one out in the top of the third, Guillermo Zavala put Philadelphia in front, 1-0, with a run-scoring single. The Quakers went on to win the ballgame.
Philadelphia manager Jeff Green was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.
