Extra-Inning Win by Habitants Over Hurons
|
The Montreal Habitants beat the Toronto Hurons, 7-5, in 10 innings. Montreal first baseman Don Hill, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Al Johns, now 2-1, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. The Habitants raised their record to 31-31.
Charlie Bartels came through with a big-time hit for Montreal. The catcher smacked a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Habitants manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon.
