Washington Eagles starter Dave Alexander found his groove in his team's 5-3 win over the San Diego Captains. Washington, at 25-39, occupies 6th place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.
Alan Cassill dealt the Captains a blow in the top of the third. Batting with the bases loaded and Washington leading 2-1, Cassill, the 17th overall pick in the 1969 draft, hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single.
"We took home the win," said Cassill. "What's not to like?"
