Twin Cities Downed, 5-2, by Pobladores

The Los Angeles Pobladores got their 1975 season off and running with a win over the Twin Cities Northmen at San Vicente Park. The final score was 5-2. Los Angeles pitcher Phil Lester, in particular, had a fine performance.
Cidra, Puerto Rico-born Manuel Castillo came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Pobladores trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Los Angeles on top.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Los Angeles manager Kurt Peterson.
